Skylab earth resources programA unique space platform for studying the ocean, the land, and atmospheric phenomena of the planet earth was provided by the successful launch of Skylab on May 14, 1973. The crew members surveyed selected portions of this planet with an array of photographic, infrared, and microwave sensors. These sensors formed the Earth Resources Experiment Package (EREP). Approximately 40,000 photographs and 220,000 feet of high density magnetic tape were acquired with EREP. Details regarding the sensors are discussed along with the results obtained in the investigations.
