Flight operations payload training for crew and support personnel. Task 3: Inflight operations and training for payloadsVarious degrees of Commander/Pilot involvement in on-orbit operation of payloads are examined. Constraints and limitations resulting from their participation or affecting their ability to participate are identified. Four options, each representing a different set of involvement depths and concepts are analyzed. Options identified are boundaries around extremes in Commander/Pilot payload involvement. Real world choices may fall somewhere in between, but for the purposes of this study the options as represented provide a matrix from which logical and practical decisions can be made about crew participation in payload operations.
