Earth observations from spaceThe present state of satellites designed for earth observations is reviewed. Particular attention is given to operational meteorological satellites, experimental atmosphere and ocean satellites, and earth resources satellites. Examples of applications resulting from satellite earth observations are discussed. It is concluded that earth observations from space have greatly advanced man's understanding of atmospheric, oceanic, and geological processes, opening the way to a large number of viable applications.
