Ionization fronts as phase transitionsModel weak D-type ionization fronts have been constructed which include the effects of magnetic pressure and H I coolants. Ly-alpha cooling is found to suppress the high-temperature peak of 15,000 to 20,000 K found in earlier models. Ionization fronts are found to be closely related to phase transitions.
