Fracture propagation in pressurized shells containing internal or surface cracks

The paper deals with a brief description of a technique by which the problem of fracture initiation, propagation, and arrest in thin-walled shell structures with an initial flaw may be treated. The analysis is quasi-static and is based on the criterion of critical crack opening stretch.
