Earth's bowshock and its vicinityPhenomena associated with the bowshock, such as its thickness, velocity, and associated waves are described. There are transverse waves radiating away from the shock and at times stationary waves fixed to it. Reflected protons generate waves far upstream. Electrostatic waves occur in the shock.
