Engine Non-Containment: The UK CAA ViewAirworthiness accidents account for roughly one quarter of the total number of accidents to public transport turbojet aircraft. The most reliable, practicable, and cost-effective means of minimizing damage outside the confines of the nacelle is to make the aircraft design invulnerable to any debris which may affect the aircraft. A failure model was developed for use by aircraft builders in measuring the freedom from catastrophe factor of their design.
