What is a stellar atmosphereThe nonequilibrium thermodynamic basis for modeling a stellar structure, subatmosphere, and atmosphere is formulated, along with the thermodynamic characterization of a star as a concentration of matter and energy in the interstellar medium. The analytical formulation of nonequilibrium thermodynamic models is discussed in the case where the nonisothermal storage modes are kinetic modes.
