Subjective evaluation of helicopter blade slap noiseSeveral methods for adjusting EPNL to account for its underestimate of judged annoyance are applied to eight helicopter flyover noise signatures having various degrees of blade slap. A proposal for an impulsive noise correlation procedure based on a digital analysis of the flyover signal is investigated. When all data are combined, the proposal is little better than simply adding an arbitrary fixed adjustment of 3 decibels to EPNL.
