Gamma ray production in interstellar spaceA simple representation of the observed invariant cross section for the production of neutral pions in pp collisions has been obtained. This representation is used to calculate the differential and integral production spectra of gamma rays in galactic space from the interactions of cosmic-ray nuclei with interstellar gas. These spectra are compared with those from existing calculations.
