Far infrared heterodyne systemsThree far infrared detectors, the InSb hot electron bolometer, the GaAs Schottky diode and the Josephson point contact junction, were incorporated as mixers into sensitive heterodyne systems. The performances of existing heterodyne receivers/radiometers using these detectors are described and compared. Other applications of submillimeter heterodyne techniques are discussed.
