Spectral flame radiance from a tubular-can combustorAn experimental investigation was conducted to determine the effects of fuel type, fuel-air ratio, and inlet-air pressure on the spectral flame radiance emanating from a JT8D can combustor. Spectral radiance measurements from 1.55 to 5.5 micrometers of wavelength were recorded and analyzed to determine soot concentration and flame temperature at various axial locations in the combustor. Two fuels differing in volatility, viscosity, and chemical composition were used in this investigation.
