The rocket and satellites research panel: The first space scientists

The development of rocket flight was examined with particular emphasis on its use in meteorological flight and atmospheric sounding. The growth of the research panel is described and the technological applications of the research is summarized. Important applications included: design of missiles, high-altitude craft, and space vehicles, special techniques of high-altitude navigation; study of climate; and military defense systems.
