Stability of two-dimensional hyperbolic initial boundary value problems for explicit and implicit schemesStable and unstable boundary conditions for various explicit and implicit schemes for the linear two-dimensional wave equations are discussed. Modal analysis is applied to the wave equations in half space in order to investigate the effect on numerical stability of outflow-type boundary conditions.
