Looking toward single-stage launch systemsThe prospects for utilization of single-stage-to-orbit launch vehicles to meet requirements for improved space transportation economics near the turn of the century are addressed. Vehicle concepts based on incremental or derivative advancements in technology are described. Comparative sizing and economic features of single and two-stage concepts are shown.
