Advanced communications satellitesThe paper presents satellite system concepts that are likely in the 1990's and may bring a new dimension to satellite communication services. The NASA 30/20 GHz communications satellite demonstration program is discussed with emphasis on the related technology development. Two general types of services are examined: trunking services and customer premises services.
