IUE observations of solar system objects and processesInternational Ultraviolet Explorer (IUE) observations of the planets and their satellites, comets, and asteroids are discussed. The use of IUE to identify previously undetected absorption features in planetary atmospheres and magnetospheres, and identify and map the distribution of constituents on the surfaces of solid bodies are covered. The advantages of the IUE over fly-by missions are outlined.
