Highly ionized gas in the galactic haloThe major results are summarized of a study of interstellar absorption in the halo which makes use primarily of IUE observations of a sample of 24 OB stars at z distances between 0.5 and approximately 3 kpc. These data, which cover a wide range of directions, are analysed together with other available results in order to investigate the distribution and physical conditions of highly ionized gas in the halo.
