On the instability of shock waves attached to wedges and conesA numerical study is made of the stability of weak and strong shocks attached to wedges and cones. The stability is shown to depend on the boundary conditions imposed, in good agreement with the experimental observations and the principle of minimum entropy. The behavior of the solutions is explained by quasi-static considerations.
