Central-station applications: System and subsystem research activitiesThe results of a number of photovoltaic central power-station studies are summarized. Analysis based upon vendor quotes and construction contractor bids indicate that $50/m2 for area related costs for flat-plate arrays is achievable. Electrical design tradeoffs for multimegawatt systems are considered. The values of photovoltaic central-station plants for various regions are determined from an energy scenario effects study.
