Fuel-Conservative Descents Using A Programable CalcultorAirborne descent algorithm used with or without time constraints. Concepts provide fuel savings by matching airplane arrival flow to airport acceptance rate through time control computations and allowing pilot to descend at his descretion from cruise altitude to designated metering fix in idle-thrust clean (landing gear up, flaps, zero, and speed brakes retracted) configuration. Also used for planning fuel-conservative descents when time is not consideration.
