Chemical Modification of the Surface of High Modulus Carbon Fibers

The deposition of selected monomers on the surface of high modulus carbon fibers was studied. The fundamental principles which provide the basis for the design of a predictable interfacial bond between carbon fibers and polymeric matrices are described.
