Damping capacity of a sealed squeeze film bearingThe advantages of incorporating an open-ended or weakly-sealed squeeze-film bearing in a flexible support structure simulating an aero-engine assembly were examined. Attention is given to empirically modelling the hydrodynamics of the more usual tightly-sealed squeeze-film bearing, with a view to assessing its damping performance.
