The Lear Jet Observatory: Fifteen Years of Discovery and RebirthSome of the highlights of far-infrared spectroscopy are outlined. The scientific discussion is supplemented with a few asides into technology developments. A personal look at the discovery of a particular spectral line in Orion from the Lear jet observatory is given. The rebirth of the Lear facility in time for the 1985 to 1986 apparition of Halley's comet is summarized.
