A Possible Explanation of Why Gravitropic Growth Is Detected Earlier than Straight GrowthThe mechanism of gravitropic gravity reception by seedling shoots was examined. Gravitropism is mediated by lateral migration of the auxin IAA. The 10 min. lag for induction of growth by IAA helps to explain auxin action. Evidences for the rapicity of gravitropism are examined.
