An overview of Landsat-4 status and resultsAnalyses of Landsat-4 satellite Thematic Mapper (TM) data indicate good spatial, spectral, and radiometric performance. Land cover features such as residential areas and field boundaries, as well as geomorphological features, are more sharply defined with the 30-m nominal resolution of the TM than with the Multispectral Scanner. The new TM spectral bands in the 1.6 and 2.2-micron regions are noted to be useful in the delineation of vegetation types and geological conditions involving hydrothermal alteration.
