Pulsar space chargingIt is found that stable self-consistent static solutions for a pulsar magnetosphere can be constructed with the magnetosphere having vacuum gaps separating the positive and negative regions of space charge. The magnetosphere is confined well within the light cylinder thus avoiding the problems of the Goldreich and Julian model. The total system charge is a free parameter in the family of models.
