Collision-induced transport processes in planetary ringsThe physics of collision-dominated particle disks around planets is analyzed from both the analytical and numerical point of view. The existence of Saturn's ringlet structure is analyzed in terms of a radial instability induced by viscous diffusion. The detailed model described is based on the assumption of uniform particle size. Modifications caused by finite particle size, gravitational effects, and a distribution of particle sizes are discussed.
