Polymer of phosphonylmethyl-2,4- and -2,6-diamino benzene and polyfunctional monomerA phosphonyl methyl benzene is prepared by nitration to produce a 2,4-dinitro phosphonyl methyl benzene, which is then reduced to a diamino compound. The diamino compound is then used to cure a polymerizable monomer. The diamino compound may be polymerized with polyfunctional epoxides to produce heat and fire resistant polymer structures for making flame and fire resistant polymer structures such as for aircraft secondary structures.
