Vibration of a large space beam under gravity effectFuture space structures will have a low mass density and high flexibility, with ground test dynamic behavior differing significantly from that in zero-G orbit. Attention is presently given to the vibration behavior of a beam deformed by its own weight; the results obtained by the differential equations for both the static and dynamic responses of a large, simply supported beam, which are derived and solved analytically, allow ground test experiment measurements to be used for orbital dynamic characteristics verification efforts.
