Aluminum Alloys for High TemperaturesNew Al/Li alloys processed by rapid solidification show greatly improved strength-to-density ratios. Alloys suitable substitutes for heavier titanium alloys and weaker aluminum alloys in high-performance aircraft, bombers, and transports. Also suitable for use in high-performance-aircraft structures heated by engines and normally constructed from titanium alloys.
