Six-Axis Superconducting AccelerometerSensitivity and short-term stability high. Design combines superconductivity and magnetic levitation to achieve linear-acceleration sensitivity greater than conventional linear accelerometers, and short-term angular stability better than conventional gyroscopes. Improved accelerometer used to increase precision in inertial navigation and surveying, as sensitive multiple-axis seismic sensor, as component of tensor gravity gradiometer, or to sense accelerations of stabilized platforms or spacecraft.
