The TIMS instrumentThe scan head and spectrometer of the Thermal Infrared Multispectral Scanner (TIMS) are mounted in the unpressurized tail cone of a NASA/NSTL Learjet and operated through a hole cut through the skin. Design criteria are discussed. The digitized field of view is described. The functions of the scan head and spectrometer are examined.
