Greenland IThe National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), The Air Force Geophysics Laboratory (AFGL), and The Danish Meteorological Institute (DMI) conducted a Joint Sounding Rocket Campaign at Sondre Stromfjord, Greenland, during the winter of 1985. Eight major rockets were launched. This paper covers the planning, facilities, and instrumentation required in order to establish the range; takes an in depth look at the range safety aspects of the campaign; and briefly discusses the operations and the results of this campaign and the plans for a follow-on campaign.
