Reactivation study for NASA Lewis Research Center's Hypersonic Tunnel FacilityThe Hypersonic Tunnel Facility (HTF) at NASA Lewis Research Center's Plum Brook Station is a blowdown, free-jet, nonvitiated propulsion facility capable of Mach 5, 6, and 7 with true temperature, altitude, and air composition simulation. The facility has been in a deactivated status for 13 years. Discussed are the capabilities of HTF, and the results of a deactivation study recently conducted to determine the cost, schedule, and technical effort required to restore HTF to its original design operating capabilities are summarized.
