Mining the IUE archive

The IUE archives are described as well as their applications and possible future developments. The data for each image is archived as a set usually containing a raw image, a processed image, and one or more extracted spectra. A cumulative plot of the number of images which have been retrieved from the IUE archives is provided, indicating that interest in the data continues to grow in all of the astronomical communities served.
