Numerical simulation of nonlinear interactions in channel and boundary-layer transitionThe basic numerical techniques used for the direct simulation of transition to turbulence are described. Applications are presented for the computation of finite amplitude, two-dimensional steady states, the simulation of the secondary instability of channels and boundary-layers, and the simulation of the breakdown of detached shear layers.
