Dynamic variability of column ozoneA first-order, analytic estimate of the dynamical change in column ozone density is given as a function of temperature change in the lower stratosphere. It is found that, for each 1 percent (about 2 C) cooling averaged over the lower stratosphere, the column ozone density can be expected to decrease by approximately 7 percent, if it can be assumed that such a temperature change is induced by changes in wave transports.
