Making A Superconductive Thin FilmExperimental fabrication process results in superconductive thin film of YBa2Cu3O7 ("123" phase of Y/Ba/Cu/O) on substrate of green semiconducting Y2BaCuO5 (the "211" phase). Film becomes superconductive below transition temperature (Tc) of 93 K. Superconducting material to be deposited on substrate. Material then annealed in oxygen at 950 degree C for 6 h, followed by slow cooling in furnace. At this point, material had a Tc of 96 K. Transition to superconductivity at 93 K very sharp. Estimated critical current density 350 A/cm2.
