A software simulation study of the long constraint length VLSI Viterbi decoderA software simulation of long constraint length Viterbi decoders was developed. This software closely follows the hardware architecture that was chosen for the Very Large Scale Integration implementation. The program is used to validate the design of the decoder and to generate test vectors for the VLSI circuits.
