Elastic-plastic crack analysis using a global-local approach on a parallel computerA global-local finite-element analysis procedure is employed to solve elastoplastic crack problems. This procedure involves a global analysis using a coarse mesh and the subsequent locally refined analysis of a number of subregions. Parallel computation is involved in the local analyses. Numerical examples are performed on a MIMD parallel computer to demonstrate the time-saving capability of the proposed procedure.
