Lunar observatoriesIssues related to the establishment of lunar observatories are briefly addressed. The advantages of placing an observatory in a crater at one of the poles, where permanent darkness exists, are pointed out, and the methods required to emplace and operate such an observatory are considered. Planning for the installation of the first set of observatory instruments is discussed.
