The Balloon Intercomparison Campaigns - An introduction and overviewThe Balloon Intercomparison Campaigns of 1982 and 1983 involved a comparison of measurements by 21 instruments from seven countries, assembled on four gondolas, assigned to collect data on the vertical profiles of HCl, HNO3, NO2, NO, O3, and many other stratospheric constituents. Most of these sensors supplied data on more than two constituents. This paper describes the instruments and the constituents measured by each of the sensor and the parameters of each balloon flight, together with some results.
