Assured Shuttle Availability Project

This paper discusses the development of the Assured Shuttle Availability Project (ASA). The ASA project has been created to provide a structure by which the Space Shuttle Program (SSP) may allocate resources to hardware redesign efforts required to extend effective Space Shuttle operational life through the year 2020. Specific ASA Project goals and evaluation criteria have been set, and redesign efforts have been evaluated using systems engineering methods.
