Numerical simulation of transition in a rotating disk flowAn investigation of the laminar-turbulence transition process in a three-dimensional boundary layer on a rotating disk is initiated. Preliminary results from a direct numerical simulation using spectral collocation method are presented. The simulation results in the linear regime is tested against linear stability theory. Saturation of the primary disturbance energy suggests the importance of modal interaction in initiating transition.
