Simulation of the spectral content of the 7.8-micron emission from Jupiter at high resolutionThe present simulation of 1100-1400/cm region emissions ascribable to (C-12)H4, (C-13)H4, and CH3D, as seen by earth observers from a 4-km altitude, conclusively show that the polar hot-spots and other midlatitude features of broadband observations are stratospheric effects. Although signal enhancement in the broadband observations is obtained at increased Doppler shifts and zenith angles approaching zero, the magnitude in the former case is a function of stratospheric temperature.
