Lunar low-frequency radio arrayA simple, inexpensive experiment is proposed for the early lunar mission to make high angular resolution observations in one of the last unexplored parts of the electromagnetic spectrum. An array of nineteen simple crossed-dipole antennas will make images at frequencies below the earth's ionospheric cut-off - from about 100 kHz to 10 MHz. It would serve as a precursor to a major low-frequency telescope which would eventually be built on the back of the moon, away from terrestrial interference.
