Torque, Tension, And Friction In BoltsImproved equations predict relationships among tension in bolt, torque applied to bolt during installation, effective coefficient of friction, and number of times bolt has been installed. Bolted joints designed with new equations, use fewer and/or smaller bolts to carry same loads, reducing weights.
