Palomar Planet-Crossing Asteroid Survey (PCAS) January 1990 - February 1991Several of our near-Earth asteroid (NEA) discoveries made relatively close approaches to the Earth allowing successful radar observations to be made. Detection of echoes from these asteroids provides otherwise unavailable information about their physical properties. Also, our role in alerting radar astronomers about new candidate asteroids makes it possible for them to acquire critical astrometry which improves the orbital elements of the new discovery.
