Chemical models of volcanic outgassing on MarsDuring the MSATT workshop in Boulder, CO, several participants emphasized the importance of constraints on the composition and temporal evolution of outgassed volatiles on Mars. I present the results of some preliminary calculations that model the composition of volcanic gases as a function of temperature, pressure, oxygen fugacity, and quench function of temperature. These results can be used in combination with cosmochemical models for the accretion of Mars to assess the plausibility of different atmospheric compositions during the planet's early history.
